Breaking news out of Game Convention 2008 in Leipzig, Germany.
A new version of the Playstation Portable (PSP 3000) will hit Europe in October, and will feature a built-in microphone, brighter screen, and will be Skype-ready out of the box. The new model will be available in 8 different bundles.
No news on when/if the PSP 3000 will make it to North America.
UPDATE: PSP 3000 will arrive in North America on November 14, and will be available in a core pack (Piano Black, 4GB Memory Card, Everyday Shooter download voucher) and a Ratchet & Clank bundle (Mystic Silver, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Echochrome download voucher, 1GB Memory Card, National Treasure 2 UMD).
Also announced is a new SKU for the Playstation 3. Essentially the same as the new 80GB model (meaning no backwards compatibility for PS2 titles), the new model will feature a 160GB hard drive and will be available in Europe on October 31. Happy Halloween.
Again, it’s unclear if or when we’ll be getting this in North America.
UPDATE: North America gets the new SKU in November, including a Dual Shock 3 controller, voucher for Pain, and a copy of Uncharted.
