AxeWerks Guitar: Episode 1 – Parts List

Vintage StratAs we get ready to launch our latest show, I thought it might be a good idea to give everyone a head start.

AxeWerks Guitar is a video-only podcast that will focus on building, repairing, and modifying electric guitars and related equipment.

The first episode will be mostly about how to wire a standard Fender Stratocaster, using this ‘vintage recreation’ from my personal collection as an example.

If you’re interested in doing the homework with the show, here are a list of parts used, and where you can get a good deal on them.

All parts are identical to ones used on the actual guitar we’ll be building, except the pickguard (which is custom) and the pickups. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on an actual set of Fender ’57 handwound pickups, but the Custom Shop recreations listed below are a reasonable (and affordable) alternative.

Fender Original 250k Splitshaft Potentiometer
Fender Original ’57/’62 Stratocaster Pickups
Fender 5-way Selector Switch
Fender Strat Knobs
Fender Pickguard Screws
Fender American Standard Strat 11-Hole Pickguard

Look for AxeWerks Guitar to arrive on all your favorite podcast outlets in May 2010.

  1. This guitar sounds as sweet as it looks, I know I’ve heard it.
