Movie Review – Firefly on Blu-ray

Firefly the complete series is now available on Blu-ray. Joss Wheden, the man who brought us such titles as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, takes you five hundred years into the future on a firefly class spaceship called Serenity. Joss brings the term ‘space cowboy’ to life in this tale of nine people who call Serenity home.

This means some new extra content for all the die hard fans who are just desperate for anything Firefly. For those of you who have never had the pleasure of experiencing Firefly it means you can do so in beautiful high definition. If you don’t mind spoilers I’ll tell you more on the other side…

Rumor: Firefly And Serenity Coming To Blu-ray Sooner Than You Think?

Count this as a rumor, but it comes from a fairly reliable source (at least as far as I’m concerned). I was asked via Twitter if I knew anything, so I asked around. Not that this is TERRIBLY top secret, but this is what I found.

The ‘cancelled-way-too-soon’ television series Firefly will be coming to Blu-ray on November 11, 2008, with a few new features that were previously missing from the DVD release.

• 2 New Commentary Tracks With Joss Whedon And ‘Guests’
• A New Featurette ‘Cast Reunion’

Of course it will in glorious 1080p, so if you have the DVD box set and you’re a ‘brown-coat’, you’ll be getting it anyway. Right?

Not as much detail is known, but it is confirmed that the spin-off movie ‘Serenity‘ will be making it to Blu-ray in March 2009.

Some retail sites are already taking pre-orders.
